More About Me

Through my use of flowing lines and forms, I represent various aspects of the human experience, expressing the emotions and energies that come with them. Expressing these feelings in stone is a way of giving them life outside of my mind. All stones have their imperfections and fractures, just as we do. Through my work, I gain a glimpse of the beauty our earth can offer. Starting from a raw stone, and with all of its natural imperfections, I grind the stone smooth so I can see a more pure surface to start from.

When designing, I aim to convey the internal energy of what some Native people are experiencing today. Whether that is the fire within us to fight for our communities or culture, or a more personal internal battle dealing with the chaos of life. After numerous hours of grinding, chiseling, and sanding in the studio, the emerging color and form of the stone always amazes me. This physical work, similar to the process of imagining, planning, and executing my life’s course, also inspires me.
